Memorial Day

Memorial Day (Memorial Day for Fallen Generals) is celebrated in the United States on the last Monday in May. This day is dedicated to the remembrance of those who lost their lives in the U.S. military.
Its origins date back to the Civil War (1861-1865). Many soldiers died in the war, and a movement to mourn their loss spread throughout the U.S. In 1868, the day was officially established as “Decoration Day,” and flowers were placed on soldiers' graves. Initially, it was a day to remember the soldiers of the Civil War, but in the 20th century, it became a day to remember soldiers who died in all wars.
In 1971, it was officially established as a federal holiday and is celebrated on the last Monday in May, as it is today. While many people spend the day with family and friends, it is also a day to remember to honor the soldiers who lost their lives by observing a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. and flying the flag at half-staff.
I hope that peace will continue to prevail.
